MISSION STATEMENT
AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
WHAT IS AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college readiness elective offered to students who would like to prepare for four-year colleges and universities. AVID scholars are motivated to work toward college eligibility by working on their writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading skills. These students are given the support and instruction they need to succeed not only in middle school, but also in college-prep and AP high school courses. The AVID elective supports these students in at least one honors/advanced middle school class.
